Long before the international community recognised C.Y. Lee as the architect of the world's tallest skyscraper — the 508-metre-tall Taipei 101 — his distinct buildings were already turning heads in Asia. Taking his cues from Chinese pagodas, old, square-holed Chinese copper coins, and even the shape of Chinese characters, C.Y.
